Game Drives

Experience the thrill of spotting wildlife in their natural habitat while exploring the reserve in an open Land Rover or on a walking safari. Our passionate rangers are committed to providing guests with memorable wildlife encounters, while instilling a deeper appreciation and love for nature.

There are 2 game drives per day included in a stay at Pumba, providing guests the opportunity to see various different animals as well as participate in other exciting activities.

Big Five

These majestic animals are considered a “must-see” on an African safari trip. Pumba Private Game Reserve is the proud home of all 5 species of the Big 5. Encounter the Big 5 in their natural habitat in a free roaming, self-sustaining environment.

It is easy to get so distracted with finding the big 5, that all the other amazing animals get overlooked. Apart from the Big 5, Pumba Private Game Reserve is home to the rare white lion, hippo, hyena, cheetah, giraffes, various antelope and more than 300 bird species, to name a few.

Guest safety is an important factor we take into account. On game drives we are in animal territory, therefore strict rules must apply. The vehicles are open along the sides and at times the roads can be quite bumpy.

  • For their own safety, children under the age of 6 years are not permitted to go on normal big 5 game drives.
  • We do offer a “kids one-hour game” drive after breakfast, with species book. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
